Radio DJ Tony Blackburn will be decked out in a Hawaiian shirt and clutching a surfboard to encourage the people of Birmingham to learn to 'surf' the internet through an innovative new service called myguide.
Tony will be at Enta training centre, 21-23 Princip Street, Birmingham on Tuesday 23 January to meet myguide staff and some of those who've already found using the internet of benefit to their everyday lives.
myguide is officially launched in the West Midlands on Tuesday 23rd. At centres across the region, staff will be providing expert advice and support to some of the many thousands of people who've never used the internet or email before, but want to learn.
The centres will also give people free advice about some of the advantages of being online - how they can check the latest train times, keep in touch with friends, find a job, pay their car tax, contact their local council or shop from the comfort of their home - and they don't even need to have their own computer!
Tony will be joined by internet novice and myguide user 59 year old marathon runner, Frank Foley.
