Enterprise Content Management software developer Jadu® today announced that it has successfully deployed Google Mini search systems for 12 UK local authorities, in less than four months.

After announcing Jadu as the first Google Enterprise Professional partner in the UK – and the first CMS developer to ship the Google Mini for its default public search with all its Government products, Jadu has also confirmed that it will be delivering back office enterprise search for Kettering Borough Council (KBC) using Google’s newest offering (launched in the UK on 26th January 2006), the 200,000 document capacity Google Mini.

“We implemented the first Google Mini for KBC in October last year,” said Suraj Kika, Jadu’s CEO. “They had over 15,000 documents in their Jadu Content Management System. Using the Google Mini, it took an average of 0.3 seconds to return search results, about twice as fast as alternative search engines. The Mini also provided a huge improvement in search result relevance when searching for terms and documents within the Jadu system. Now Kettering has asked us to implement the brand new 200,000 document version of the Google Mini that will index the Council’s Internet, Intranet and Extranet websites – and provide a dedicated A-Z services and FAQ’s search for KBC’s customer services advisors.”

Marion Goodman, Customer Services manager at KBC said: "It became clear very quickly that we needed a scalable search to match the powerful CMS - something that could deliver highly relevant results from the thousands of pages of dynamic content and was scalable to grow at the same rate as our website.”

Marion added; “People were used to using Google at home; it was therefore the natural choice. The solution chosen was also more than ten times more cost effective than alternative options considered and was implemented within 24 hours.”

“The Jadu CMS and Google Mini combination has proved itself consistently with our customers, independent and government organisations. We now want to deliver a fast and relevant search for our customer services advisors, so they can look up rich information on services by keywords rather than subject headings, and deliver our customers up-to-date information over the telephone and face-to-face in our customer services reception.” Says Marion.

”We designed our Google search appliances to deliver fast, relevant search in a solution that’s easy to set up and manage. We’re excited that Jadu has been able to combine the power of Google search with its Content Management System in an offering that’s been well received by local authorities,” said Rajen Sheth, Product Manager for the Google Mini.

“What’s great about Google’s new 200,000 and 300,000 document Mini,” says Suraj, “is that now there is a scalable upgrade path. As time passes and content repositories get larger – the search needs to scale-up also. Once over the 300,000 document threshold, the Google Search Appliance provides scalability up to 15 million documents”.

“Our customers are amazed by the Google Search Appliance,” said Suraj, “We are working on integration with Jadu’s CMS intelligence tools and the Google Search Appliance to make the content management tasks across the enterprise simpler and faster. The Google Search Appliance enables us to access databases and other offline content, unlocking even more corporate information.”

The Enterprise Search market is rapidly growing and is expected to generate upward of $900 million in sales during 2005, search analyst Sue Feldman of IDC of Framingham, Massachusetts estimated.

The UK local government market is recognising the benefits that it can bring to its online customers with search and meeting the expectations of standards set by Google.com is far easier when the search is in fact, powered by Google.
