LocalView is a new online service that people can use to access an interactive map of Tunbridge Wells Borough which links to a wealth of information about local services.
By simply entering an address or postcode, visitors to the LocalView website can retrieve information specific to that location and surrounding area including:
* the relevant Councillor
* planning applications
* neighbourhood statistics for population, health, employment, education, housing, crime and the environment
* flooding, pollution and other environmental information
* residents’ parking zones
* tourist information on where to stay, places to visit, what’s on, shopping and where to eat
Visitors can use the ‘Find the Nearest’ facility to search for services near to their location including:
* tourist information centres
* leisure centres
* recycling sites
* schools
* doctors
* hospitals
* post offices
All of the information retrieved can be represented on a map to give the viewer an idea of where these facilities are, in relation to their location.
Borough residents can also submit fault and incident reports directly to the council over the internet, such as the location of graffiti, an abandoned vehicle, overflowing recycling site or a damaged street name plate. The same facility allows residents to request a service, such as a new wheelie bin, recycling container, or a bulky waste collection.
Cllr Elizabeth Thomas, Portfolio Holder for Planning and Development, said:
‘LocalView allows us to easily share location-based information on local services and activities, such as recycling centres, local parking, schools and neighbourhood statistics. We have been delighted with the increased use of our online services since integrating LocalView into our existing website. Not only does it enable us to improve our customer service through more efficient management of local geographic information but, it offers people a quick and easy way of finding information on a map.’
