Strasbourg, 18.10.2007 - Some 200 government representatives, experts and professionals from Europe and other continents will be gathering in Andorra for an international symposium on the accessibility and attractiveness of rural and landlocked areas on 25 and 26 October 2007.
The event, entitled "The accessibility and attractiveness of rural and landlocked areas: sustainable transport and services of general interest", is being jointly organised by the Council of Europe Division on Cultural Heritage, Landscape and Spatial Planning and the Andorran Ministry of Urban and Spatial Planning. It is being held in the framework of the European Conference of Ministers responsible for Spatial/Regional Planning (CEMAT) in the Council of Europe's member states1.
The aim of the symposium is to promote an integrated approach to regional planning and good governance, and to make proposals regarding the preparation of the 15th CEMAT session "Future challenges: sustainable spatial development of the European continent in a changing world", to be held in Russia in 2009.
