Worthing Borough Council deplores the three options being put to the residents of Worthing by the PCT. It is quite obvious that they have not listened to the elected representatives who passionately believe that no single hospital could safely cope with the demand from the West Sussex catchment area.
This Council believes that if any of the three options were to be implemented, people in West Sussex will die or suffer harm as a direct result of these decisions. Furthermore the Council is determined that if medical facilities currently available in Worthing Hospital are closed or downgraded they will use every legal means at their disposal, including a judicial review, to reverse the decisions made by the PCT.
Last year Worthing invited Patricia Hewitt here to listen to our concerns and she declined due to diary commitments. We now invite her again to listen to us, any time, any date, any place.
This Council believes that the three options being put forward are a direct attack on the residents of West Sussex and we call on all residents to make their views known to the PCT on Monday.
The PCT will be holding their Board meeting - which is open to the public - at 9.30am on Monday 25 June at the Charmandean Centre. Following that there will be a 18 week consultation period about the three options.
