 New social enterprise innovation scheme will improve local services

Care Services Minister, Ivan Lewis announced the opening of the second round of the Department of Health (DH) Social Enterprise Investment Fund today. He also announced that this year, it would include a new element, the 'Innovation for Life Challenge Fund', developed in collaboration with the Social Enterprise Coalition. The Innovation for Life Challenge Fund will encourage Strategic Health Authorities (SHAs) and their partners to find collaborative solutions to health and social care needs through social enterprise

 Phil Hope, Minister for the Third Sector, speaking at a groundbreaking social investment conference, has today announced a new programme of work to help standardise and improve how social return on investment (SROI) is measured. The Government is to carry out a project that will bring together the public sector, independent investors and social enterprises to agree a standard methodology for SROI measurement that places a financial value on social benefit.

The Assembly Government is working to strengthen its collaboration with the Third Sector in Wales through supporting organisations such as the Community Foundation in Wales, Social Justice Minister Dr Brian Gibbons has said.

Victims of rape, domestic violence or sexual abuse have been given a boost to help their efforts to rebuild their lives with London Councils providing £6.2 million to organisations giving them support, advice and counselling.

Public sector workers, including doctors, teachers and local government employees, stand to benefit from £13 million in new pension contributions when they volunteer with Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO) according to a new government announcement.  Volunteers will be working in some of the poorest countries in the world and will help VSO further their fifty-year fight against world poverty.
